This is the last weekend in June, and once again, the time flew by! They say time flies when you are having fun. I wouldn’t call quarantine or the current state of affairs fun (it’s actually the opposite), but something about it is definitely warping the time. So, if you are reading this, cheers to making it through another month.

June Things

Nothing really significant happened to me personally this month to make it memorable. I mean we all know about all the things going on in the world, that have made June quite memorable, but I’m just specifically reflecting on my personal life. We are planning to get a new roof. Oh, and our garage door decided to break, so we are meeting with a contractor this weekend to handle that. So, I guess you can say we are doing some home improvements, which will definitely help when we are ready to sell this house. Did I mention, I am thinking about buying a new house? We’ve been driving around looking at homes. We aren’t moving anytime this year, or probably not even next year, but I like looking at houses, so Joseph is kind enough to indulge me. We have car dates to look at homes (listen…we are bored). I can’t wait until we can comfortably go to a restaurant, and eat a candlelit dinner.

Missing Events

I hate that we didn’t get together with friends to celebrate Juneteenth this year or anything for that matter. I know it would have been something special. We used that day to read and share black history, and of course we toasted to our ancestors. We will be celebrating every year going forward. Also, we didn’t go anywhere this year for our wedding anniversary, which is our June tradition, so we will have to make up for all of the missed events and vacations, once this pandemic is over. I miss doing what I want…when I want.

Get Into This Gadget

I finally got my iPad! Woot Woot! I’m so excited and hope that it turns out to be a great investment. I hope to post something…anything from my iPad on my next blog post.

I can look around in my office and find gadgets that I’ve wasted money on, only to use them once or twice. I will not let this iPad become a statistic.

In Those Jeans

I tried on my jeans the other day to make sure I could still get in them. Sweatpants will have you thinking it’s all good, so I had to take the jeans test. They were a little snug, but I managed to pull them up. I’ll be honest…there was this one pair, that was not going up over my thighs (note: these particular jeans were already super fitted before, so I think I get a pass on those…right?)…but, I have definitely gained weight since March.

I stole this t-shirt from Joseph…so don’t tell him I’m snappin’ pics in it.

I want to also note, that I was in my best shape at the beginning of March because I was about to be in a (now postponed) wedding, so I was getting my body right and tight…then ‘Rona hit. That is honestly no excuse because I’ve seen some people actually look better now than before the pandemic started, so…I need to get it together. I guess you can say I’m in maintenance mode right now. Or should I say survival mode. Ok…enough of the excuses. Either way, I was still able to fit into one of my favorite pair of jeans…so I’ll be alright.

After the Storm

It was storming really bad the other day while we were out driving, and I was complaining about how the weather sucked. But once the rain settled down, we ran into the brightest rainbow. It was so beautiful. This serves as a reminder that “rain” is necessary to see the beauty in the world and, we all need a little rain in our lives to appreciate when things are good. So, I had to share this beauty.

Quick Cocktail Recipe

Even with all that is going on, it’s good to stop and take a moment to say cheers to the things that are going right in your life. This is a fun recipe to make on a day when it bright and sunny out…or any day! I got this recipe from TikTock, but I tweaked it a bit. You can learn a lot on there, so don’t judge me.

White Claw Mango Slushie

Ingredients
  • 1 can of White Claw (I used the mango flavor)
  • 1 ounce vodka (I used Tito’s)
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 cup of frozen mango (or frozen fruit of your choice)
  • 1-2 cup(s) of ice (depending on type of ice you use)
Prep
  1. Combine all of the ingredients into a blender cup (I used my Ninja blender)
  2. Blend until a smooth and slushy consistency
  3. Pour into a glass, pop in a straw and sip away
  4. Save any leftovers in a closed container (but I went back and immediately drank the leftovers)

You can play around with different flavors of White Claw and frozen fruit, until you get the perfect combination, but I love mango. I’m about to make this right after I post this blog!

Cheers!

xo,

Che
